Halo 5 Launch Playlists Announced

Early today 343 Industries announced the launch day playlist lineup for Halo 5 Guardians Multiplayer. While the lineup is missing some Halo classics such as Big Team Battle, we’re still met with a significant and interesting lineup of playlists.


Halo’s new 12 vs 12 game mode featuring Req’s, Enemy AI, and Objectives has a lot to offer both new and old players. At launch it will feature the following maps:

  • Escape from A.R.C
  • Raid on Apex 7
  • March on Stormbreak

Warzone Assault

Warzone assault is a unique asymmetrical variant of Warzone in which the objective of the game is either defend your core, or attack the enemies. At launch it will feature the following maps:

  • Dispatch
  • Array
  • Summit

Team Arena

Team arena is the 4v4 objective playlist in Halo 5. It will feature four key game modes, Breakout, Slayer, Capture the Flag, and Strongholds. Team Arena will launch will the following map and gametype combinations

  • Breakout on Gambol
  • Breakout on Trident
  • Slayer on Coliseum
  • Slayer on Eden
  • Slayer on Plaza
  • Slayer on Empire
  • Capture the Flag On Coliseum
  • Capture the Flag on Truth
  • Capture the Flag on Fathom
  • Strongholds on The Rig
  • Strongholds on Eden
  • Strongholds on Empire


Slayer is Halo at its core a 4v4 team deathmatch. It will feature the following maps at launch:

  • Coliseum
  • Plaza
  • The Rig
  • Regret
  • Fathom


Breakout is Halo 5’s intense teamwork based single elimination game mode. It will feature the following maps at launch:

  • Gambol
  • Trident
  • Trench
  • Crossfire
  • Altitude


The name says it all. You’re dropped into a match alone. Eliminate fellow Spartans to succeed.

  • Eden
  • Regret
  • The Rig
  • Plaza
  • Orion
  • Pegasus


A bastion of Halo since Halo 2, SWAT offers a unique Halo experience with one hit kill headshots, and no motion tracker. SWATnums, a subtype of SWAT features magnum only starts. SWAT will launch will the following map and gametype combinations

  • SWAT on Eden
  • SWAT on Regret
  • SWAT on The Rig
  • SWAT on Plaza
  • SWAT on Orion
  • SWAT On Pegasus
  • SWATnums on Eden
  • SWATnums on Regret
  • SWATnums on The Rig
  • SWATnums on Plaza
  • SWATnums on Orion
  • SWATnums on Pegasus

Weekend Social

Weekend Social is a new addition to Halo 5 Guardians. Players will be able to vote on game types on Halo Waypoint or the Halo Channel. In addition to voting for game types, the weekend social playlist will also provide bonus xp and req points to players.¬†There will be a variety of game modes featured for voting ranging from the “Extremely whacky” to those which are “a bit more serious”. Extremely popular game types may even see a release as a playlist in the future.
