This time, Ubisoft is taking us back in time…WAY back in time. To the Stone Age, to be precise. A time when man had to do anything and everything he could just to survive. Which is exactly what you’ll be doing in Far Cry Primal. Staying true to the franchise, the game takes place in the open untamed world of Oros. You’ll be taking on the role of Takkar, a hunter who is the sole survivor of an ambush on his hunting party. Takkar must use his extensive survival and hunting skills to not only ensure his own survival, but that of the rest of his tribe as well.
Takkar is able to craft tools and weapons from the animals he kills, which allow him to protect his tribe and ensure it’s growth. Players will come to respect and depend on fire for survival in Far Cry Primal. Whether it’s being used as a simple light source, to ward of predators, or assault enemy outposts…fire will be essential for survival in Oros.
“The Stone Age is the perfect setting for a Far Cry game.” said Jean-Christophe Guyot, creative director, Ubisoft. “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself.”
Far Cry Primal is scheduled for release on February 23, 2016 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be released in March 2016.
Ubisoft will have more details coming in the months ahead.
