In a complete curveball that is completely out of recent character for Capcom, it has been announced that the Resident Evil series will be getting yet more re-releases. Over the course of 2016, Resident Evil 4, 5 & 6 will be released on Xbox One and PS4!
Playful sarcasm aside, the news comes as part of Resident Evil’s 20th Anniversary celebrations this year, continuing the current trend set by a slew of REmasters (get it?) towards the end of the last console generation and two so far for current generation.
As shown above, the games will (strangely) be released in descending order, starting with RE6 in March, followed by RE5 in Summer and *cue angelic voices* RE4 in Fall.
Each game will be available digitally at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99, with physical disc versions also to be available in the Americas, according to Capcom Unity.
Capcom announced last year that remakes/remasters will form a significant part of their franchise strategy going forwards, whilst a sequel to Resident Evil 6 has not yet been announced. Following positive reception to Nintendo 3DS’s Resident Evil: Revelations, RE Revelations 2 released in a twin-story episodic format last year, repeating it’s predecessor’s review performance.
Have you played any of these games? What would you say to those who haven’t?
