Resident Evil 6 Will Run at 1080p/60FPS on Xbox One & PS4

Capcom’s Senior Director of Digital Platforms, William Bacon, has now confirmed that the Xbox One & PS4 ports of 2012’s Resident Evil 6 will run at 1080p/60FPS, matching its PC version which released the following year.

Earlier this week on March 22nd, the Resident Evil franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary; as part of these celebrations Resident Evil 4, 5 & 6 are all being re-released for Xbox One & PS4 throughout the year. Kicking it all off is Resident Evil 6 (don’t ask why they’re being released in reverse order, we don’t know either – perhaps as some form of peculiar game in itself), which releases this Tuesday, March 29th for USD $19.99 / £15.99. This version of the game will contain all DLC content released on earlier platforms plus any content available through and the previously PC-exclusive “The Mercenaries: No Mercy” mode, which offers a soul-crushingly challenging experience of the fan-favourite mode.

It was also added that fans can expect to see a minor but “useful” new mode in this release:

“There is one ‘new’ mode added, but it’s not some revelatory OMG feature. It’s a tiny but useful mode that will enhance and streamline online multiplayer mode selection.”

In addition, there have been a few optimisations and adjustments to the way players can set up the game.

“Otherwise, creature comfort features such as optimized button/key mappings, option to turn on auto-action for certain QTEs, time limit extension for certain action scenes, and better vehicle control rounds out the package. The game also includes FOV adjustment in the options. I believe it’s set wider by default.”

It is unclear at this time as to whether Resident Evil 6‘s two predecessors will also benefit from any technical improvements. In other Resident Evil news, 2002’s Gamecube hit Resident Evil Zero was remastered for modern platforms and released earlier this year, whilst multiplayer-based tactical shooter Umbrella Corps, a Resident Evil spin-off, will release this May for PS4 & PC.
