Mojang and Microsoft announced today at E3 the launch of the “Friendly Update” for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Minecraft: Pocket Edition. This update added cross-device connectivity allowing shared multiplayer games between the iOS, Android, Samsung Gear VR and Windows 10 devices, through the use of the Minecraft Realms service.
Minecraft realms allows users to play on a shared custom world, even if the owner is offline, on cloud servers with 24/7 uptime. To celebrate the update, starting today, players with Xbox Live accounts can try out Realms on mobile and Windows 10 devices for a month, for free!
Additionally, there was talk of updates coming this fall that will incorporate game add-ons and texture packs to allow players to further customize their game world with new features and experiences.
