RTX 2016 – Halo Presence Breakdown

343 Industries recently revealed what their plans are for RTX 2016, and it’s no small offering. There will be plenty of Halo to go around, so in this post, we’ll break it down.

For those that don’t know and are wondering what RTX is, it stands for Rooster Teeth Expo and his held every year in Austin, Texas. It’s a wonderful show for not only fans of Rooster Teeth, but it’s also become host to some major Halo-related events. 343 Industries has even used the event to reveal and show off some of their latest Halo products and announcements.

This year, it takes place on from July 1 – 3. If you can afford it and make the trip, its worth attending. For more details about the show and to buy tickets, follow the link below.

– RTX Show Floor

If you manage to go to RTX, 343 Industries will be on the show floor in their own booth with all sorts of awesome Halo content for fans to get their hands on. They will also be joined by ASTRO Gaming, Loot Crate, and GAEMS in order to have some awesome giveaways and help set up the booth for the best possible experience.

  • Halo Wars 2 ‘Strongholds’
If you didn’t get a chance to play Halo Wars 2 at E3 this year or get your hands on the recent beta, then you’ll have an other shot at RTX! Halo Wars 2 will be available to play in the form of the ‘Strongholds’ gametype at the booth. Control more objective points than your enemy when the timer stops and you’ll be victorious!
  • Warzone Firefight
If you have yet to experience Warzone Firefight in Halo 5, then you’re in for one hell of a blast. This all-new mode (but not really ‘new’ to long-time fans) being added to Halo 5: Guardians pits you and 7 of your friends against multiple waves of increasingly difficult Covenant and Promethean enemies. You’ll all be working toward the same goal, but who will come out on top at the end? Will you even survive the enemy onslaught?
  • Halo 5 Arena for FFA Tournament
Presented by the Microsoft Store, this is a wonderful opportunity for local fans to dabble in the hype and adrenaline that is Halo eSports. With the success of the HCS, it was only a matter of time before we saw some officially sponsored FFA tournaments. The HCS has been your standard 4v4 team-based tournament, but Free-For-All matches are a whole different beast and a ton of fun to watch. If you want in on the action, here are some details straight from 343 Industries!

We’ll be qualifying players on the RTX 2016 show floor at the Halo booth for a chance to go head to head with fans who qualify earlier in the week at the Microsoft Store location in Austin.  If you think you’ve got what it takes, make sure you come to the Halo booth during these times:

Friday, July 1: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Saturday, July 2: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The players in the Top 3 from each day will move onto the Finals on Sunday, Jul 3 beginning at 2 p.m..

Each competitor will play three total heats (games) of 6-player FFA in Halo 5: Guardians. After the end of the three heats, the score from each heat is tallied to determine each player’s final score. At The Domain (Microsoft Store), the 36 competitors will be broken up into six groups of six, with the winner of each group moving on to the Finals. On the RTX 2016 show floor, the players with the Top 3 in score at the end of each day will move on to the Finals.

In our Finals, the 12 qualified players will be separated into two groups of six based on their qualification scores, where they will again play in three heats. The players in the Top 3 from each group will enter one final round where prizes are the distributed after the last three heats of the tournament.

– Halo Panel

Halo panel is something every fan should experience if given the opportunity and this panel will certainly be no exception. 343 Industries’ Tom French and Dan Ayoub will be joined by Rooster Teeth’s own Burnie Burns, and Matthew Arevalo from Loot Crate. The panel will also be moderated by none other than the badass Kiki Wolfkill. They will discuss the future of Halo’s map and UGC creator, Halo 5: Forge for Windows 10. They’ll also dive into the sacrifice of Sgt. Forge and the surviving crew of the Spirit of Fire in Halo Wars 2. Panels aren’t always talk, however, so be prepared for demos, sneak peeks, and a fan Q&A at the end of the panel!

So this year, join some of them at the RTX Center Stage as they play some hilarious custom games in Halo 5: Guardians with attendees! It’s all being hosted by 343 Industries’ Bravo and Grim as well, which will be sure to serve up even more laughs.
