We Sing at PAX West 2016

Can I just start this by saying how happy I am that music games have found their way over to Xbox One. For a long time since the launch of Xbox One, this was always a genre of games that was lacking for those who loved to rock out in the privacy of their own home. But with games like We Sing, it completely changes the scene and gives people an excuse to let loose and sing their heart out.

We Sing Productions, a collaboration of Nordic Games, Wired Productions, and Le Cortex, is working to produce a music singing game that is bigger and better than before. After building off of the success from their original series on the Nintendo Wii, the newest version of this multiplayer karaoke hit will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in October for only $29.99 (USD). Even though a full track list has not been announced, we do know that the game will contain chart toppers like “Cake” by DNCE, “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, “Chandelier” by Sia, and “Dancing Queen” by Abba. At launch there will be a total of 30 iconic songs for music game lovers to choose from.

In We Sing, you can choose to sing with friends or soar to the top of the leaderboards while belting out those songs on your own. One of the most unique features of this game is that it will support up to eight mics. Even though the system itself will only allow four USB microphones to be connected, there is a free We Sing Mic companion app (available for iOS and Android devices) that will allow players to reach that max number. We Sing comes with six modes to allow for single-play, versus, and co-op in addition to three difficulty settings.

I will admit that before even having the chance to try the game out, I knew it would be fun. After convincing some other RUL staff to step up to the mic with me in public, I was pleasantly surprised to see all of them really get into it. Some of them expressed how shy they felt about it and told me afterwards that they couldn’t believe how much fun they had, and I think that really is a testament to this game. It manages to pull people out of their comfort zone to have a good time with friends.

From what the Ready Up Live crew was able to experience at PAX, this game is sure to be a hit. So, if you’re looking for an entertaining game to put on at your next get together with friends or family, We Sing is definitely a perfect choice for some karaoke fun.
