2017’s Biggest Video Games!

Now we’ve said goodbye to 2016, its time to look ahead to the plethora of exciting titles to come from 2017! Here are some of the biggest games arriving on the scene in the next 365 days, you certainly shouldn’t miss these!

Resident Evil VII – January 24th 2017

The next chapter in the genre-defining Resident Evil series is fast approaching, and RE7 isn’t messing around. Set to be possibly the scariest title to date and a true return to series roots, this new installment changes things up by moving to a first-person perspective, a controversial but ultimately more immersive viewpoint, and one that will go hand-in-hand with VR. Get prepped to wander an abandoned plantation mansion transfixed with fear with the Beginning Hour demo now available!

Sniper Elite 4 – February 14th 2017

Step into the shoes of Karl Fairburne and join the OSS in Sniper Elite 4, help take down the fascist regime in 1943’s wartime Italy with nothing more than a sniper rifle, a few AP rounds and a gratuitous slow-motion camera to show you each incredible shot in painstaking anatomical detail.

Halo Wars 2 – February 21st 2017

The much-hyped sequel to Halo Wars, cleverly named Halo Wars 2 (Who’d have thought?), comes in late February with bigger, better RTS Halo action and brings players back to Halo 3‘s Lesser Ark, where Atriox and his army of Banished warriors waits to test the mettle of the Spirit of Fire and her crew. If you haven’t had a chance to try it out, fear not – there’s a second beta coming in early 2017!

Horizon Zero Dawn – February 28th 2017

Action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn comes around 5 years after development started in 2011, and it’s safe to say this is one of the most anticipated titles of this year, especially after a year’s delay! After all, who could say no to an adventure in an open post-apocalyptic world ruled by robots, armed with arrows, traps and CQC weaponry? Fun times for you PS4 owners!

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands – March 7th 2017

Welcome to Bolivia. Ghost Recon: Wildlands moves away from the futuristic settings seen in recent games towards more modern-day times. The game is said to be one of Ubisoft’s biggest open-world games and offers an enormous amount of tactical freedom in approach to missions as a result. Still not sure? Maybe this gameplay can help convince you that this should be high on your 2017 wishlist:

Mass Effect: Andromeda – March 21st 2017

Set around 600 years after Mass Effect 1-3, Andromeda drops players into the shoes of either Scott or Sarah Ryder (player chosen), children of N7 operative Alec Ryder. The Ryders are Pathfinders, N7 operatives tasked with finding new planets for humanity to colonise and expand. Set in an open-world environment, players must explore the game’s universe aboard the Ryders’ ship Tempest, visiting a whole array of locations and exploring them using the returning Nomad buggy vehicle. Looks like Mass Effect is back and better than ever – check out the trailer below if you don’t believe me!

Half Life 3 – April 1st 2017

Possibly the most anticipated sequel of all time, Half Life 3 is-

…had you going, right? #SorryNotSorry

Yooka-Laylee – April 11th 2017

Not a whole lot to be said about this one – if you ever played Banjo-Kazooie then you probably know everything about Yooka-Laylee already. In a nutshell, take a handful of elite ex-Rare devs who worked on Banjo-Kazooie, put them in a room together, tell them to make some magic happen and you get Yooka-Laylee – a spiritual successor to the historic series about a bear and a bird who fend off evil and collect EVERYTHING. With Banjo holding a special place in my heart as a significant part of my childhood gaming experience, I’m certainly very excited for this very special game – are you? Check out the footage below!

Red Dead Redemption 2 – Fall 2017

It’s been more than 6 years since the original Red Dead Redemption, and at last it has a sequel on the way. Other than what can be gleamed from the trailer below, there’s not a whole lot we know beyond the fact it’ll likely follow a similar style to its predecessor, and will be open-world. Expect to see lots more over the coming months!

Well, there you go – some of 2017’s big hitters! Which are you most excited to get your hands on? Did we miss any out? Let us know in the comments!
